The FOODSAFE training programs were developed cooperatively by partners in government, business, health, safety, and education. These partners continue to work together in the delivery and continuous improvement of the program and the curriculum resources.

FOODSAFE Level 1 Online
FOODSAFE Level 1 is a food handling, sanitation and work safety course designed for:
  • cooks
  • servers
  • bussers
  • dishwashers
  • deli workers
  • and other front line food service workers.
The course covers important food safety and worker safety information including foodborne illness, receiving and storing food, preparing food, serving food, cleaning and sanitizing.
FOODSAFE Refresher Online
The FOODSAFE Refresher is a short course designed for people who have successfully completed FOODSAFE Level 1 in the past, and want to refresh their food safety knowledge and renew their existing FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate.

The course covers key safe food handling information including the causes of foodborne illness, receiving and storing food, serving food and cleaning and sanitizing. The FOODSAFE Level 1 Refresher Course can only be taken by individuals who have previously taken BC FOODSAFE Level 1.
Food Safety Basics Online

Food Safety Basics is a review of safe food handling practice intended for people who have already completed FOODSAFE Level 1 and have applied to take the FOODSAFE Level 2 classroom course. Please note: Food Safety Basics is NOT equivalent to FOODSAFE Level 1.
FOODSAFE Level 2 Online
FOODSAFE Level 2 is designed for:
  • foodservice owners
  • managers
  • kitchen managers
  • executive chefs
  • and others who are responsible for managing for food safety in foodservice establishments
The course includes a short review of FOODSAFE Level 1, and modules on Managing for Food Safety and Writing a Food Safety Plan.
